General Information about the Hotel
When was the hotel founded?
The history of Seitenalm as a guest operation dates back to the 1950s. In 1983, Hanni and Peter Arnold took over the business; in 1994, Seitenalm was expanded into a 4-star hotel. Since then, there have been almost annual additions, renovations, and expansions to improve the offer for guests.
Who are the owners/hosts?
Seitenalm is family-run. The hosts are the Arnold family and the Buchsteiner family. The managing directors of Hotel Seitenalm GmbH are Peter Arnold and Anna-Elisa Buchsteiner.
How many rooms does the hotel have?
The hotel has 58 rooms, spacious family rooms, as well as 2-room apartments and 3-room apartments.
At what altitude is the hotel located?
Seitenalm is located above Radstadt at 1,150 meters above sea level.
Where is Seitenalm located?
The family resort is located above Radstadt in the Salzburg region, in the middle of nature and only a few minutes' drive from the town.
Booking, Prices & Stay
When can I check into my room and by when do I have to check out?
You are welcome to arrive from 2:30 PM on the day of arrival and use the entire hotel offer. Your reserved room will be ready for you from 3:00 PM.
On the day of departure, we ask you to vacate the room by 10:30 AM. On this day, you can still use the Seitenalm offer free of charge until 3:00 PM.
Can I arrive earlier or leave later?
For an early check-in, we can offer the following options:
- Use of the room from 10:00 AM - €100
- Use of the room from 12:00 PM - €70
For lunch and use of the hotel facilities, we charge €20 per adult and €15 per child.
The regular room occupancy is at 3:00 PM. An early check-in can only be confirmed 1 to 2 days before arrival.
Is there a late check-out for an additional charge?
We offer various options for a late check-out:
- Use of the room until 1:00 PM - €50
- Use of the room until 3:00 PM - €70
- Use of the room until 5:00 PM - €100
- Use of the room until 6:00 PM - €150
- Use of the room until 8:00 PM - €200 (excluding dinner)
Alternatively, we can reserve one of our luggage rooms (free of charge) for the day of departure. A late check-out can only be confirmed 2 days before departure.
Are there minimum stays, for example during holiday periods?
Yes. Minimum stays apply during selected season and holiday periods. The applicable minimum stay duration is displayed with the rooms and prices for the desired travel period.
How are the room prices composed?
Adult prices apply per person and night based on double occupancy. Child prices apply per child and night based on the specified occupancy. Prices and season periods vary depending on the travel period and room category.
Are there discounts for children and up to what age?
Yes. Graduated child prices apply depending on age. Additionally, there are seasonal family offers where children stay at a reduced rate or free depending on the period.
What is included in the stay?
The daily price includes, among other things, all-inclusive non-alcoholic soft drinks, age-appropriate childcare, as well as numerous indoor and outdoor activities. Individual additional services such as massages, ski rental, or certain courses are chargeable.
What cancellation conditions apply?
Free cancellation is possible up to 3 months before arrival. From 3 months to 1 month before arrival, 40% is charged; from 1 month to 1 week, 70%; and within the last week, 90% of the travel price is charged. In case of early departure, 100% is charged.
Is a deposit required?
To confirm your holiday at Seitenalm, we ask for a deposit
- up to €1,500 - deposit amount €500
- up to €3,000 - deposit amount €1,000
- up to €5,000 - deposit amount €1,500
- from €5,000 - deposit amount €2,000
The deposit must be paid no later than 7 days after receipt of the booking confirmation.
Which payment methods are accepted?
The hotel bill can be paid in cash, by credit card (Visa or Mastercard), debit card, or bank transfer.
Can I take out travel cancellation insurance?
Yes. Seitenalm offers the option to book a hotel cancellation premium insurance from the European Travel Insurance. The hotel handles the insurance contract.
What happens in case of late arrival or early departure?
In case of early departure, 100% is charged according to the published cancellation conditions. In case of late arrival, a later arrival time should be agreed with the hotel.
Are pets allowed in the hotel?
No. Bringing animals is not permitted.
How high is the local tax or mobility fee?
From the winter season 2026/27, a local tax including mobility fee of €3.40 per person per night from the age of 15 must be paid separately.
Arrival & Mobility
Is it possible to arrive by public transport?
Yes. You can come by train to Radstadt station, as well as by plane to Salzburg Airport.
Is there a shuttle service from the station or airport?
From Radstadt station, Seitenalm offers a free pick-up service with the hotel’s own shuttle bus upon prior notification of the arrival time. Transfers from Salzburg Airport are possible through external providers; prices and conditions should be checked before booking.
Are there free parking spaces?
Yes. There are sufficient free parking spaces directly at the hotel.
Can I reserve a garage space?
Yes. A space in the hotel’s own garage can be reserved when booking. The price is €10 per day.
Are there e-charging stations?
Yes. There are two charging stations at the hotel. The fee is €0.48 per kWh and is billed directly by SalzburgAG.
Do I need a car on site?
Not necessarily. When arriving by train, a seat on the hotel bus is reserved for you as part of selected program points. However, for particularly flexible excursions in the surrounding area, we recommend arriving by your own car due to the hotel’s remote location.

Rooms & Amenities
What types of rooms are available and how large are they?
There are family rooms as well as 2- and 3-room apartments and rooms for solo travelers with children. The family rooms are 1-room apartments starting at around 31 m²; 2-room apartments vary by category, for example between 50 and 60 m², 3-room apartments range from 72 m² to 90 m².
What basic equipment do the rooms have?
All rooms include, among other things, a balcony, safe, satellite TV, telephone, radio, refrigerator, bathrobes for the family, a bath bag filled with towels for the pool, hairdryer, cosmetic mirror, toilet seat reducer, and blackout curtains. Depending on the category, there is either a shower or a bathtub.
Is there a minibar?
You are welcome to order a minibar before arrival. This is chargeable and will be prepared in your room on the day of arrival.
Is there a coffee machine and a kettle in the room?
Every room has a kettle. There are no coffee machines in the rooms, but the coffee machine in the dining area is available 24 hours a day.
What baby and child equipment is available in the room?
Options include a crib, bed rails, baby rocker, changing pad, diaper pail, baby bathtub, kettle, bottle warmer, vaporizer, nursing pillow, Maxi-Cosi, as well as strollers and buggies. The desired equipment can be prepared in advance for the room.
Is there a baby monitor in the hotel?
Yes. The room phone can be forwarded to your mobile phone as a baby monitor.
Can a family room with separate sleeping areas be booked?
Yes. There are 2- and 3-room apartments with separate bedrooms or a separate children's room.
Are there rooms with a kitchen or kitchenette?
There are no rooms with a kitchen or kitchenette at Seitenalm.
Are the rooms air-conditioned?
There is no air conditioning in the rooms.
Are there allergy-friendly rooms or rooms without carpet?
There are two room categories with parquet flooring: the 2-room apartment "Duett" and the solo traveler Mama&Papa room.
What bedding and blankets are provided, for example for allergy sufferers?
All beds are equipped with allergy-friendly pillows and allergy-friendly duvets.
Are the rooms completely darkenable?
All rooms have blackout curtains.
Is there a microwave in the room?
A microwave is provided free of charge upon request. Please inform us before arrival.
Is there a refrigerator in the room?
Yes, all rooms are equipped with a refrigerator.
Is it allowed to leave strollers in the hotel?
For hygiene reasons, we ask you not to bring the hotel's outdoor stroller or your own stroller into your room or the hotel (exception: West entrance – stroller garage).
We are happy to provide our strollers for your children. The indoor strollers can be used throughout the hotel (except the indoor pool). The all-terrain outdoor strollers are also freely available to you at any time.
Wool blankets for a walk can be borrowed at the reception. Our strollers can be found in the basement.
Culinary & Catering
What does "All Inclusive Alcohol-Free Soft" mean?
Included are breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner as well as non-alcoholic drinks from the beverage bar. Various coffee and tea specialties are also included all day in the package.
When are breakfast and lunch served?
The breakfast buffet is offered from 7:45 AM to 10:00 AM. The warm lunch snack is available from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
Is there an afternoon snack?
Yes. From 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM there is a cake buffet with homemade cakes and snacks. Depending on the season, additional offers such as ice cream in summer or a savory snack in winter are added.
What does dinner look like?
In the evening, a 5-course menu with choices is served. Options include various soups and main dishes, including a vegetarian option, complemented by salad and cheese buffets. For children, there is a children's buffet or children's menu.
Are high chairs and bibs available?
Bibs are available at the restaurant entrance area. High chairs are also available in the dining rooms.
Can allergies and intolerances be accommodated, for example gluten-free or lactose-free?
Yes, at breakfast there is a small buffet with gluten-free products. Gluten-, lactose-, and protein-free dishes are also offered. Please communicate special dietary needs preferably before arrival.
Are there vegetarian and vegan dishes?
Yes, vegetarian dishes are regularly offered; additionally, there is a vegetarian focus day. The menu includes a vegan main dish daily, and vegan desserts are also offered.
Are lunch packages available for excursions?
The all-inclusive catering applies exclusively to meals at the hotel. Therefore, we do not offer take-away lunch packages. The hut hosts look forward to your visit.
Are alcoholic beverages included?
No, the all-inclusive offer includes non-alcoholic drinks. Non-alcoholic cocktails, wine, and other alcoholic beverages are not part of "All Inclusive Alcohol-Free Soft".
When is dinner served?
We gladly welcome you for dinner from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Which non-alcoholic drinks are included in the all-inclusive offer?
Included all day are non-alcoholic drinks from the juice bar as well as coffee and tea specialties and hot chocolate.
Vacation with Baby & Toddler
Which baby equipment can I borrow?
Available options include crib, fall protection, baby rocker, changing pad, diaper pail, baby bathtub, kettle, bottle warmer, vaporizer, nursing pillow, Maxi-Cosi as well as strollers and buggies. The desired equipment can be prepared in advance for the room.
Is there baby food in the hotel?
Yes, the HiPP baby buffet at the restaurant entrance offers baby food for different age groups as well as hot boiled water, spoons, and bibs. The selection may vary seasonally.
Is there baby care?
Yes, for babies up to 1 year old, 42 hours of care are offered 7 days a week, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Is there a baby and toddler pool?
Yes, the indoor pool has a baby and toddler pool with 32 °C, a children's slide, and toys.
Can I borrow a stroller?
Yes, baby carriages or buggies are available for indoors; for outdoors, there are all-terrain strollers in the stroller room.
Is there a baby monitor?
Yes, the room phone can be forwarded to your mobile phone as a baby monitor.
Can small children eat dinner earlier?
Yes, with the "Sandmännchen" offer, dinner can be served to small children from 5:30 pm.
Childcare, Kids & Teens
From what age is childcare available?
In addition to baby care up to 1 year, childcare is available from 1 year. The programs are organized in age-appropriate groups, including toddlers, kids, and teens.
How long is the childcare open?
For children from 1 year, 77 hours of care are offered 7 days a week, daily from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM – both in summer and winter.
Do parents have to be present during the settling-in period?
Yes, daily from 9:00 to 9:30 AM there is a joint introduction with parents in the Kids Club. From 9:30 AM, the Kids Club is operated as a parent-free zone.
Can siblings be cared for together?
Siblings can gladly be cared for together if the age difference is not too large.
What happens if my child does not want to stay alone?
Then we recommend participating in the family animation program – these program points are intended for the whole family.
What activities are available in bad weather?
Even in bad weather, there are many options: indoor pool, creative childcare, covered sand playhouse, as well as a large indoor adventure world with numerous play, climbing, and movement offerings.
Are there offers for teenagers?
Yes, there are special program points and a chill-out room for teens. Depending on the weekly program, joint games, bowling, darts, or evening activities are offered, for example.
Are there animals at Seitenalm?
Yes, children can experience ponies, donkeys, rabbits, mini pigs, hens, guinea pigs, and cats, among others. Animal contacts as program points are part of the family offer.
Can you ride directly at the hotel?
Yes, there are free pony experiences as well as paid riding lessons, which can be booked in advance or on site. The infrastructure includes, among other things, a 40x20 m riding hall, an outdoor riding arena, an all-weather grooming area, and a round pen.
How large is the indoor adventure world?
In our family adventure world "4 Seasons" we offer over 550 m² and up to 10 m room height with 28 "weatherproof" attractions for mom, dad, and their children. Including a family playroom, chill-out room, etc., there are about 800 m² of indoor play opportunities.
Bathing, Wellness & Fitness
Is there an indoor pool?
Yes, the family indoor pool is 6 x 11 m in size and has a water temperature of about 29 °C. Additionally, there is a baby and toddler pool heated to 32 °C as well as a whirlpool.
Is there an outdoor pool in summer?
Yes, in summer there is an outdoor bathing paradise with a 20x6 m outdoor swimming pool, children's pool, slides, water games, and a spacious sunbathing area available.
Are children allowed in the sauna?
Yes, the indoor sauna area with herbal steam bath, bio sauna, and infrared cabin is run as a family sauna and can be used in swimwear.
Is there an adults-only wellness area?
Yes, for adults there are two Finnish panorama outdoor saunas as well as the relaxation house "Alm Ruh." Additionally, a late-night sauna for adults only is offered several times a week.
Are bathrobes and towels provided?
Yes, bathrobes are available for the whole family in various sizes. The bathing bag is filled daily with fresh towels for the indoor pool.
Can massages and beauty treatments be booked?
Yes, there is an extensive massage and wellness offer for adults, teens, children, and babies. These treatments are chargeable.
Is there a fitness room?
Yes, the panorama fitness studio covers about 120 m² and is equipped with TechnoGym devices for your cardio and strength training.
Are swimming courses offered?
Yes. Children from 4 years old can learn basic swimming skills directly at the hotel. The courses are an additional, chargeable offer. In summer, group courses and private sessions are offered; in winter, only private sessions are possible.
What are the opening hours for the family and adults-only saunas?
- In summer: 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm – all saunas in operation
in winter: 11:00 am to 7:00 pm - Infrared cabin – can be switched on independently at any time
- Late-night sauna in the panorama sauna (adults-only) – daily until 11:00 pm
Do swimming courses, riding lessons, or massages need to be reserved in advance?
These additional offers can be booked in advance and are chargeable. For various offers, a reservation at the reception is expressly required. We recommend booking already before arrival.
Summer & Activities
What outdoor activities are available in summer?
On the extensive hotel grounds, there are numerous possibilities such as playgrounds, low ropes course, go-karts, climbing, trampoline, water playground, soccer, beach volleyball, basketball, tennis, table tennis, natural pond, horseback riding, and other family activities.
Are there hiking trails directly from the hotel?
Yes, various hiking trails start directly at the hotel. Nordic walking poles can be borrowed free of charge; terrain-capable strollers and backpacks are also available for family-friendly excursions.
Is there a guest card or benefits for mountain railways and admissions?
Yes, from one overnight stay guests receive the Salzburger Sportwelt Card free of charge. This provides discounts at numerous mountain railways, excursion destinations, baths, and leisure offers.
Winter & Skiing
Is there a ski area directly at the hotel in winter?
Yes, on the Hexenhauswiese there is a hotel-owned children's ski area. Depending on the program, skiing, sledding, and other snow activities are offered there.
How far is the ski area?
The Forstau/Fageralm ski area is only a few minutes' drive away. It is about 3 km from Seitenalm and can be easily reached by ski bus.
Is there a ski bus and is it free?
In winter, a public ski shuttle runs several times daily, including towards Forstau/Fageralm and further to Reiteralm or the 4-Mountain Ski Circuit. With a valid ski pass, the ride is free of charge.
Are there ski courses for children and from what age?
Yes, in cooperation with the Resch ski school, we offer regular children's ski courses from 4 years old. Additionally, there is the playful offer "Bambinis in the Snow" from 2.5 years. Registration is at the reception; ski courses are chargeable, the "Bambinis in the Snow" offer is free of charge.
Is there a ski rental at the hotel or nearby?
Yes, a ski rental from Intersport Gerhardter is located directly in the hotel, open daily in winter from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm and is chargeable.
Is there a ski depot or drying room?
Yes, each room has a locker for skis and ski boots or hiking boots and hiking clothing; skis can be stored there and shoes dried.
Can I buy ski passes at the hotel?
Yes, lift tickets from 2 days can be purchased directly at the reception for a fee.

Is there Wi-Fi – also in the rooms?
Yes, free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the hotel.
Is there a washing machine or dryer or a guest laundry or ironing service?
On the first floor of the hotel there is a guest laundry room. There you can wash and also dry your laundry. This costs €4 each.
Alternatively to the dryer, you will find a drying rack on your room balcony. Laundry detergent is available free of charge at the reception.

The Radstadt City Pharmacy (Ernest-Thun-Gasse 2, 5550 Radstadt) is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm, and on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Is there a supermarket nearby?
The nearest supermarkets are about 3 km from the hotel. There you will find a Hofer and a Billa.
Is there room service?
We are happy to serve drinks directly to your room. You can place your order by phone. We charge €10 per room service.
Is the hotel stroller-friendly, for example with elevator and ramps?
Yes, all areas of the hotel are accessible with a stroller.
Is the hotel barrier-free or wheelchair accessible?
The majority of our hotel is easily accessible by wheelchair.
An exception is the indoor pool, where there are 2 steps to overcome - however, you can reach the indoor pool by wheelchair via an internal corridor. The hotel rooms are accessible by elevator.
We are happy to provide you with grab bars for the shower during your stay. Also, several dining rooms are barrier-free accessible.
Are there quiet times or a night rest?
No, there is no night rest.
Is the hotel non-smoking and are there smoking areas?
Rooms, hotel lobby, and dining rooms are designated non-smoking areas. For smokers, a covered outdoor area is available.
Are there special safety measures for children, for example socket covers?
Yes, the rooms have permanently child-proofed sockets and a full fire alarm system. Furthermore, it is possible to turn the door handles in the rooms upwards for more safety for the children.
