In our family-run business, preserving tradition and working in harmony with nature are issues that are close to my heart.

We strive to be sustainable and use natural resources.

Personal conversations with our guests are a valuable part of my everyday life and I enjoy talking about the development of the Seitenalm, as well as my passion for hunting. I love spending time in the unspoilt nature of the forest.

A close family breeds happy people. Our days are shaped by a sense of gratitude for working together.

We want to give our guests the feeling of being part of the “big Seitenalm family” – and believe in the power of valuable family time.

I love focusing on my flowers and enjoy good conversations with people of all ages. And as a mother and grandmother, I’ll be happy to pass on some of my experience to you.

Our appreciation for the uniqueness of each individual is reflected in our daily work. As a young host, I work with my partner and daughter to make the most precious time of the year more enjoyable for many people.

The foundation of everything that we do is the joy of creating experiences and the passion for our Seitenalm.

I try to use clear structures to introduce change and transformation into our hotel and work with our employees towards a common future.

Our hotel and everything we offer is characterised by our authenticity and honesty.

As part of our aim to continuously improve quality, we focus particular attention on protecting the environment and offering climate-friendly holidays.

Mindfulness towards nature and raw materials plays a key role in my life, as I want to ensure that my three daughters also have a green future.

Guests who come back year after year and loyal employees are what make our family hotel special. We offer quality time for families – combined with the best guest service. It’s not just in the family that a sense of belonging plays an important role. We also want to give our guests, employees and partners this same feeling.

I believe that personal discussions are essential for creating trust and building a friendship that will last many years.

I fully embrace this kind of belonging and include it in my life with my partner and my two sons.

We fill the house with positive emotions and our actions are guided by decency and responsibility towards people, animals and nature.

My life is shaped by a love of animals and their gentleness, beauty and freedom from judgement. I recharge my batteries and love spending time with our animals and my two sons. Working with the animals gives me ideas and increases my mindfulness towards nature. Humans can learn so much for themselves and their actions by respecting animals.

Our philosophy

  • We are connected with nature. Since being awarded the Austrian Ecolabel in 2011, we have been committed to working in an environmentally conscious manner both in and around the hotel. Our wood chip system heats the water and provides heating throughout the hotel. We heat with renewable energies and help to protect the environment.
  • Healthy food is important to us. Our meals are prepared fresh in the kitchen every day. We use regional products and spoil you with traditional Austrian cuisine.

Mindful handling of resources

umwelt blatt salzburg 2021

In September 2021, the Seitenalm was awarded the umwelt blatt salzburg 2021 in the “environmentally friendly holidays” category.

Since 2010, umwelt service salzburg, the funding and service centre for corporate climate and environmental protection in the federal state of Salzburg, has issued this award to recognise comprehensive and exemplary commitment to the environment as well as a wide range of measures and investments. Certified with the Austrian Ecolabel and now also awarded the umwelt blatt salzburg, the Seitenalm hotel promotes renewable energy from electricity and biomass, electromobility and a wide range of measures to support the climate and environment.

The Arnold family has been focused on the mindful handling of resources for many years.

History of the Seitenalm in the Salzburg region

Alexander and Hilde Arnold started running a guest business in the 1950s. At first, the Seitenalm was run as a snack station with camp accommodation. The first guest rooms were then subsequently built - without any running water, of course.

The water was brought into the room and heated on the tiled stove. The first guests from Germany soon arrived for a “summer and winter holiday”. The good food and friendly hosts helped the Seitenalm to become a popular excursion destination and guesthouse.
